Dearest readers,

In the words of Lady WhistleDown, “London’s fashionable sense has returned.” If you're someone like me, who not only watches Bridgerton but is obsessed with the fashion in the show, then you’ve come to the right place.

It has been two years since the last season was released. This year, season three is set to be released on two different dates which are May 13th and June 16th. Every season of the show chooses to focus on a different character and relationship. Season one focused on Daphne Bridgerton, while season two focused on Kate Sharma. Now that season three is about to blossom, Penelope Featherington is our diamond of the season.

If there is anything that is most noticeable about the show, it is certainly the design and details of the outfits. Since Bridgerton is a historical drama, much of the wardrobe consists of regency era dresses with intricate designs, detailed beading and well, just the right amount of sparkle and elegance. All of these elements have inspired today’s fashion, culminating the idea of regency-core.

Now, what exactly is regency-core? Think florals, embellishments, and everything feminine. According to Women’s Wear Daily, regency core is known as “hyper-feminine style, with hallmarks being Empire-waist dresses, baby-doll dresses, pearl embellishments, floral prints, opera length gloves and other regal inspired designs”.

Regency-core takes us far back in time to a place where fashion was both extravagant and exciting. It highlights elegance and embraces the achievement of artists and culture from the time period that Bridgerton is set taking place in.

The central garment of regency-core is a dress, of course. Babydoll style dresses are found to be just above the knee or mid-length or potentially just a little bit longer. These dresses are filled with floral prints and a wide variety of colors. Sleeves also play a significant role in the fashion of dresses tailored to the show and era. Some are found to be extravagant, which include ruffles or a slight puff, while other types of sleeves are simple or completely strapless.

Want to dress like a Bridgerton and feel a part of the fashionable return?

As Lady Whistledown would say, “even a wallflower can bloom”. A babydoll or empire waist style dress is a great place to start when putting pieces together. Look for pastel colors such as pinks, blues, and lilac purples. If monochrome doesn’t tickle your fancy, also look at floral patterns. If you find yourself not too big on prints but want to add intrigue to your look, textured fabric or embellishments are good directions to head in.

Ballet flats or Mary Jane style shoes add elegance in a modern world, bonus points if they are worn with frilly socks. Frilly socks come in many different colors and styles, such as lace.

Accessories can include any type of jewelry such as chunky pearl and jewel filled necklaces, sparkling and statement bracelets, and simple yet exquisite earrings ranging from pearls, jewels, and either gold or silver.

Now we know for sure Lady Whistledown would not forget her bag and neither should you! Look no further than a small handbag such as a clutch or tote embellished with beads, pearls, and jewels. They will certainly add to your outfit and make you feel ready to attend any social event that is to come.

Complete your final look with a high ponytail, a bun and some curls here and there. Feel free to have some fun by putting clips with flowers or butterflies in your hair.

So now you're ready to make your return and earn the diamond of the season. For not only will your outfit make you stand out and you will be the talk of the town, but you will also be ready to watch Bridgerton’s season three. So ladies, the season is upon us, and remember, diamonds aren’t the only gem that sparkle.
